The Iris, Aristocracy of Beauty (Part 1)

Today is Mary Helen's birthday and each year I have the blessing to be able to go to Sri Aurobindo's room remembering her on her birthday. There is little one can say about the Grace that allows one to visit His room. The vast peace, vibrating with love and compassion, usually brings forth the psychic tears of a soul that aspires so fervently to unite with Him and Mother but recognizes the many failings, dark niches, and desires that still must be overcome. I go with gratitude and humility, remembering one who was the perfect example of Aristocracy of Beauty.

In this most significant month when we visit Mother's room on Her birthday, when we celebrate Auroville's birthday, and every leap year the great day of February 29th, I dedicate this blog to Spring and the promise of renewal.

In temperate climates Spring is very different, lasting much longer after often severe winters, so here is her pageant from Mother's Garden along with the significance Mother has given to us to help in our upward climb.

Mother named many flowers from the West but we devote this blog exclusively to the Iris, 'Aristocracy of Beauty'.

In another blog we shall look at two of the great flowering shrubs of Spring, Rhododendrons and Azaleas, 'Abundance of Beauty'.
